Shantha launched India's first genetically engineered product SHANVAC-B- rDNA Hepatitis-B Vaccine in August, 1997 which has WHO Pre Qualification Approval and is being sold to more than 50 countries across the globe and meets a major part of UNICEF’s requirement for Hepatitis-B vaccine.
Shantha’s R&D team is focused on Vaccines and Biotherapeutics and has developed products like Shanferon – r-Interferon Alfa 2b; Shanpoetin- r-Erythropoetin and Shantetra- DTP-Hep-B Combi Vaccine. Shantha has created State of Art Manufacturing facilities to cater to global scale requirements.
The current R&D focus is on Vaccines, Biotherapeutics, Diagnostics and Monoclonal Antibodies and Shantha has an exciting pipeline of products and technologies in these segments. Shantha West Inc., USA, a subsidiary of Shantha, is involved in the development of novel therapeutic monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of different types of Cancer.
Shantha is committed to the enhancement and preservation of its Intellectual Property and respects the Intellectual Property rights of others. Shantha holds various International Patents including Product Patent for Monoclonal Antibodies like TB-94 in US and process patents for Shanferon. Shantha is a recipient of various prestigious awards including the National Technology Awards for R&D excellence and the Conferment of the prestigious Civilian Honor “Padma Bhushan” upon Dr. Varaprasad Reddy by Hon’ble President of India.
