Membership of FABA: Categories

In order to become eligible for membership of the Federation, the Organisations, applying for membership, shall primarily be engaged to promote Biotechnology or to practice in the field of Biotechnology and are categorized as follows:

i) Biotech Associations / Institutions of Asian and any other region in the world

Any association, society, federation or any other similar institution set up in Asian or any other region of the world to promote, co-ordinate, regulate activities in the filed of Biotechnology.

ii) Corporate Membership

Any Company or Corporation, whether incorporated in Asian Countries or any part of the world, being engaged in Biotechnology as a profession, industry or trade conforming to the objectives of the Federation will be eligible to become a Corporate Member of the Federation.

iii) Honorary Members and Patrons

The Management Committee may, in its sole discretion, nominate as an Honorary Member and Patron any individual in the field of biotechnology or related fields or any eminent or distinguished person who has made significant contribution to the objectives of the Federation. They shall not be required to pay any membership fee.

Procedure for Applying for Membership:

All applications for membership of the Federation shall be made in writing on official letter heads to the Secretary General

The membership of Federation shall be deemed to commence from the date of the decision of the Management Committee/President/Vice President, as the case may be. Decision taken on applications shall be communicated in writing to the applicants.

Membership fee:

As per Memorandum & Articles of Association, biotech associations, institutions and industries dealing with biotechnology in any country in the world are entitled to become members of FABA. Individuals are not entitled to become members. The enrolment fee for membership is USD 300 and annual membership fee starting from January 2006 will be only USD 100. It has also been decided to extend invitation to leading biotech and pharma companies / institutions / associations to join as distinguished members of FABA. Needless to mention, it will be pleasure of FABA to give special coverage to the concerned organizations and products on FABA’s website, its newsletter and its promotional materials. The different categories of membership and one time contribution as life member is as follows:


		Platinum member : Indian Rs. 1 million (USD 23,250)
		Gold Member : Indian Rs. 0.5 million (USD 11,625)
		Silver Member : Indian Rs. 0.2 million (USD 4,650)
