Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) announces an International Conference on “Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine: Research to Business” from 22nd to 24th March, 2012 at ISB Auditorium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, India. |
It was in 2002 the first international conference on Stem Cell was organized by the AIBA-SC at Hyderabad, which was extremely successful and was participated by eminent speakers from across the globe and was highly appreciated by medical, Scientific, Industrial Professionals. The amount of research at that time was very primitive. It’s over a decade now and the amount of Stem Cell research therapy and new changes happening in stem cell segment have increased tremendously and there is a lot of scattered information about the latest developments in this field.
In a remarkably short span of time, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine field has attracted an extraordinary level of interest from scientists, clinicians, industry and general public. Nearly 2,000 scientific studies have been published and posted in the NIH Medical Library, just in the first 2 months of 2009, and also, more that 50,000 reports over the course of the past 3 years are published on different aspects of Stem Cell Research and Therapy.
There are more than 30 research institutes, hospitals and companies involved in stem cell research in India which includes AIIMS, NCCS, NCBS, CCMB, SCSRM, SSCR CMC Vellore, Life Cell, LVPEI, Tran-Scell, Reliance Life Sciences, Stempeutics etc. Keeping in view of the future business prospects in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicines, number of western companies in the form of private entrepreneurs are planning to set up base in India in the near future in this area. Some Indian universities are very active in stem cell and regenerative medicines research viz University of Delhi, University of Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences along with many Hospitals, Companies and Research Institutes.
Global market size of stem cell therapy has been estimated at around $20 billion in 2010, as per a Frost & Sullivan study. There are almost 180 prominent companies working on Stem cell research in the world. Presently the investment of stem cell research and therapy in India is around $540 million.
As there is a scattered information available all over and with a view to review the available information and review the research, business opportunities and new changes happening in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, FABA felt that it’s now high time to organize an International Conference and bring several experts on to one platform where they can exchange their information, ideas and at the same time, several business MOUs and agreements can be entered into with international companies which will be the real stepping stones for the Indian Stem Cell Industry, particularly in area of therapy. |
This conference will aims to serve as a catalyst to inspire stem cell research and regenerative medicines around the world by providing an informative sessions for academics, researchers, industries and experienced professionals to share their research findings and leading discoveries on the potential of such new treatment as well as the risks involved and the possible steps to overcome those.
Venue:
The conference will be held at Indian School of Business (ISB), Rameshwarlal Khemka Auditorium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. ISB is well connected to International Airport and prominent hotels in Hyderabad. |
